Nursing Education Programs
What is the Nurse Apprenticeship Program?
The Saint Alphonsus Nurse Apprenticeship Program offers students the opportunity to increase their experience by advancing their nursing education and working in the field. Students work in their units of interest, gain patient care experience, work closely with RNs, and build their confidence. Students can apply for this nursing education program at the end of their first semester. Nursing students must have finished a basic nursing fundamental course and have ongoing good academic standing in the nursing education program.
Why Saint Alphonsus?
We provide future nurses with opportunities for hands-on learning, autonomy, collaboration, interdisciplinary rounding, leadership, and professional development. The program allows students to dive head-first into their areas of interest after their first semester ends. Nurse Apprentices work alongside RNs, increase their experience with patient care, discover future career paths, and build relationships with colleagues and leadership.
We cultivate curious minds and count on our nurses to provide the highest level of care to the patients most in need. You deserve to be a part of a supportive culture that truly views nursing as the anchor of care.
How Does the Nurse Apprenticeship Program Contribute to my Career?
The job duties of a Nurse Apprentice (NA) are similar to those of a CNA role. Any NA can apply for CNA job postings once they have been certified. Students will be consistent in one unit unless hired to the Float Pool. This allows students to gain deeper levels of experience and build relationships with colleagues and patients. The program provides an easy transition to an RN or LPN position after graduation. Full time and part time nurse apprenticeship roles are eligible for our generous benefits package.
How Would This Impact My Schedule?
The program offers flexible scheduling, with full and part-time positions. Many students work part-time while taking classes. Our managers are accommodating with shifts, offering a variety of shift lengths and hours scheduled per week. This flexibility also supports students wanting additional hours during breaks. During the summer, Nurse Apprentices can transition to a full-time schedule if they want.
How Do I Apply?
You can apply through our careers page here.We require a letter from the State Board of Nursing that shows you are certified to work as a Nurse Apprentice for a designated time period. This period will not extend more than 3 months after successful completion of the nursing education program. Nursing students must have completed a basic nursing fundamental course and have ongoing good academic standing in the nursing education program. This program is available in our Boise, ID, and Nampa, ID locations.
