Traveler's Medical Kit
Below is a list of recommended items to include in your travelers medicine kit.
- First Aid supplies: gauze, tape, Band-Aids, moleskin, tweezers, small scissors, antiseptic towelettes, antibiotic ointment such as Bacitracin, Ace bandage, second skin, steri-strips.
- Extra eyeglasses and eyeglass prescription, sunglasses, contact solutions and supplies.
- Soap
- Thermometer (not glass)
- Sunscreen: spf > 30
- Insect repellent
- Mosquito net
- Water purification system (iodine or filter)
- Oral rehydration solution: for example, CeraLyte
- Foot powder: Micatin, Tinactin, Desenex
- Analgesic: ibuprofen or acetominophen
- Antiseptic: betadine
- Antimalarial medication (Rx needed)
- Anticonstipation: Metamucil, docusate sodium, or Senekot
- Antidiarrheals: Imodium, Pepto Bismol, and antibiotic (Rx needed)
- Anti-motion sickness medication: Dramamine, Bonine or other
- Antihistamine: Benadryl
- Altitude sickness prevention medication if relevant (Rx needed)
- Antacids
- Throat lozenges
- Condoms
- Dental Floss
- Swiss Army Knife
- Feminine hygiene: tampons, vaginal yeast infection cream
- Hydrocortisone 1% cream for rashes
- Epi Pen if you have severe allergy (Rx needed)
- Flexible Splint (“Sam” splint can be found at REI)
