Community Outreach
Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute is committed to increasing cancer awareness in our communities. We host annual conferences for the public and healthcare professionals that address the latest topics relating to cancer prevention, treatment, and complementary therapies.
Our commitment to increasing awareness about the importance of early detection goes beyond the Treasure Valley. We do this with a mobile health screening van that travels throughout southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon. We run many cancer screenings and health fairs each year, which enable people to be screened for breast and skin cancer.
Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute, along with other healthcare partners, also sponsors community cancer events. These events include the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, which raises funds that are used locally to increase awareness for cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and research programs.
Saint Alphonsus also partners with our local rodeo events such as Stampede for the Cure, CNR Power of Pink and the Owyhee County Rodeo to bring awareness of breast cancer and to provide life saving screenings onsite during these rodeo events.
