Saint Alphonsus Health System was named by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers for 2025. The recognition stems from the results of an independent survey of more than 200,000 employees across the country.
“The mission that colleagues share at Saint Alphonsus makes working here truly special,” said David McFadyen, President and CEO of Trinity Health, West Region. “Every day, we come together as a compassionate and transforming healing presence to better the communities we serve. It’s a privilege to share that calling with the talented colleagues, physicians, and advanced practice providers at Saint Alphonsus.”
Saint Alphonsus is a faith-based, not-for-profit health care system that employs more than 6,000 colleagues and more than 500 medical staff in Idaho and eastern Oregon. The system includes four medical centers in Baker City, Boise, Nampa, and Ontario, plus a wide network of urgent care and medical group offices throughout the region.
Saint Alphonsus is the only healthcare system in Idaho to receive this recognition, and one of only three Idaho employers to be named in the list.

During the past three years, Saint Alphonsus placed a strong emphasis on workforce initiatives aimed at building a pipeline of healthcare workers and leaders, including strengthening partnerships with schools, growing workforce development programs, and focusing on career progression within the organization.
“As a mission-based health system, we have focused on enhancing the colleague experience across all stages of the colleague lifecycle,” said Brooke Thrasher, Saint Alphonsus Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are passionate about building a culture where colleagues feel recognized, engaged, and supported.”
To identify the list, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey 217,000 employees working at companies with more than 1,000 employees.
Participants were granted anonymity and asked if they would recommend their employer to others based on an array of criteria, including compensation, work environment, training, and opportunities to advance. The responses were tallied along with survey data from the prior three years to account for fluctuations in data, with the most recent evaluations being weighted more heavily.
