Better imaging, faster scans, increased patient comfort among benefits for Ontario and neighboring communities

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center-Ontario is proud to announce the arrival of the Altea MR system, a new MRI technology focused on better imaging and patient comfort.

“Our community and patients deserve the highest quality of care, and this new MRI machine is another example of how we ensure the best and safest care is provided to our patients,” said Dina Ellwanger, President of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center-Ontario. “It is the best feeling to know that advanced technology is offered at our local hospital.”

The Altea MR system is designed with a larger circular opening and shorter length, making it feel more spacious and less stressful for patients who feel anxious or claustrophobic during traditional MRI scans. This helps the patient feel more comfortable.

One of the key features of the Altea MR system is its patient table, which can move and doesn’t require manual transfers. This is safer for patients, including those with limited mobility, and helps prevent falls.

Another feature is the system's special head coil, which tilts to improve comfort for people with neck problems. It helps position patients to keep them comfortable while still providing clear, high-quality images.

“The Altea MR system is a such a big step forward in MRI technology because it combines advanced imaging with a more comfortable patient experience,” said Jamie Dotson, Eastern Oregon Medical Imaging manager. “We’re excited to offer this to our community, improving how we care for patients.”

Technologically, the Altea MR system uses AI to speed up scans and improve image clarity. These new tools make the imaging process faster and more accurate, which helps doctors make better diagnoses promptly.

The Altea MR system is now available at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center-Ontario. Visit /location/saint-alphonsus-medical-center-ontario for more information or to schedule an appointment.
