As the region’s primary acute care Level II Trauma Center, Saint Alphonsus takes our commitment and responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our community seriously.

As previously reported, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC)- Boise recently faced the withdrawal of trauma center re-verification by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) due to four issues which were documentation / administrative in nature. Clinical services and patient care are not impacted, and nothing changes from our clinical standard of exceptional care that is provided as a result.

On December 12, 2023, the Idaho Time Sensitive Emergency (TSE) Council which certifies Trauma Centers across the state of Idaho reviewed the ACS survey report and unanimously upheld continuation of TSE certification of SARMC as a Trauma Level II Center.

Across Idaho and eastern Oregon, SARMC remains the highest level of Trauma acute care available for the region. This means that patients have access to 24-hour immediate care coverage by general surgeons, and specialties of orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and critical care.

At Saint Alphonsus, the Trauma Center is staffed by Trauma Surgeons who are board-certified in General Surgery and fellowship-trained in Surgical Critical Care. The team also includes board-certified Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons and Neurosurgeons. Additionally, these teams are supported 24/7 by many surgical and medical subspecialties including vascular, cardiothoracic, pulmonary/critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, infectious disease, nephrology, and rehabilitation medicine.

Patients and the community can continue to feel confident and secure knowing they have access to the highest quality of Trauma care available locally.

The history and legacy of the Saint Alphonsus Trauma Center extends over more than 15 years. We maintain our commitment and promise to the residents of the communities we serve to advance the highest level of Trauma care possible locally.
