Dr. David Zarkou Named Executive Medical Director for the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group

Dr. David Zarkou, DPM, has been named Executive Medical Director, Specialty Care, at Saint Alphonsus Medical Group.
As Executive Medical Director, Dr. Zarkou works with service line medical directors and administrative leaders across the health system to achieve medical group and system strategic organizational objectives. In his new role, he will oversee the following service lines: Surgery, Surgical subspecialties, Cardiovascular, Orthopedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Trauma, Vascular, Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine, Hospitalists, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Occupational Medicine, and Wound Care.

Dr. Zarkou comes to Saint Alphonsus from Oregon, where he was Senior Medical Director, Surgical Specialties for Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis and Medical Director, Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brigham Young University – Idaho in Rexburg, his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa, and an MBA from Western Governors University. He completed his Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency with Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Certification at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Dr. Zarkou is board-certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. In the past, Dr. Zarkou provided care for NCAA Division-1 Student Athletes and participated in Graduate Medical Education for family medicine residents. His clinical interests include foot/ankle trauma and sports medicine.
He is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
