Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Honored for Outstanding
Performance in Knee and Hip Replacement, Palliative Care
Saint Alphonsus recognized by the Joint Commission for high
marks; awarded two-year accreditation and Gold Seal of Approval®
Boise, ID – Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for its knee replacement, hip replacement, and palliative care programs by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety. The certification award recognizes Saint Alphonsus’ dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center underwent a rigorous on-site review in April and May of 2015. A Joint Commission expert evaluated Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
"I'm so proud to be part of a team that makes significant investments in quality on a day-to-day basis. The Joint Commission's award in hip and knee replacements is a well-deserved recognition for the hard work of our physicians, medical staff, and support staff,” said Dr. Richard Moore, orthopedic surgeon.
“Achieving Joint Commission certification in palliative care is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving," said Dr. Kevin Clifford, palliative care physician. "The certification also confirms that Saint Alphonsus is providing patients with superior, individualized care."
The Joint Commission’s Certification Program is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with national standards; effective use of clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
