Measles on Back

Measles are making a comeback – and here's what you need to know from Dr. James Lederer, Chief Quality Officer at Saint Alphonsus:

"The measles is a very highly contagious disease, and can be a serious health threat to the very young, immune-compromised, and those that have not been immunized. Patients are contagious for up to 4 days before showing symptoms, which is why this disease can spread so easily. Symptoms include a fever, red/itchy eyes, coughing, and rash. To protect yourself and those around you, please be sure that you get your child immunized (if over the age of 12-15 months), and that you consider a booster immunization for yourself."
