New leader named for Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center

Odette Bolano, Kaiser Permanente Executive, Will Lead Boise Hospital

Boise, ID – Saint Alphonsus today announced that Odette Bolano has been hired as President of the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The position became vacant when the previous president, Rodney Reider, was named President and CEO of the Saint Alphonsus Health System late last year. Bolano will start her new position on December 21, 2015.

Bolano is a seasoned healthcare executive, currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Area Manager, Kaiser Permanente - East Bay in Oakland California. As the Senior Vice President and Area Manager, she oversees two hospitals: a 349 acute care tertiary urban medical center and a 50 bed community medical center, eight pharmacies, 800 physicians, 5,000 staff and has health plan responsibility for 316,000 members.

Previously, Bolano was the President and CEO of St. Joseph Health System and the Regional CEO for Texas. Odette has worked in Catholic healthcare with Ascension Health for over 11 years prior to joining Kaiser Permanente.

Bolano started her medical career as a nurse, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University. She earned her Master's in Administration of Health Care Services from the University of Houston- Clear Lake. In 2004, she became a Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is Boise's oldest hospital, started by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1894, and remains a faith-based organization. Licensed for 384 beds, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is the only Level II Trauma Center in the region. It is also a nationally recognized Trauma, Chest Pain, Diabetes and Primary Stroke Center.
