Nampa, Idaho - Canyon County residents are now getting new options for maternity and heart care a little closer to home. Previously, a large percentage of Caldwell, Nampa, and other locals had been traveling all the way to Boise for maternity and heart services – making a trip to the doctor a time consuming and more costly venture. Fortunately, the new inpatient Birkeland Maternity Center and Heart Center at the Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Nampa - I-84 & Garrity campus will bring a variety of new services and resources to those in Canyon County.

The new Birkeland Maternity Center will offer luxury birthing rooms – complete with jetted tubs, mountain views, massage service, in-room catering, and spacious guest accommodations. The new features allow mother, family, and guests to experience a comfortable, supportive, and relaxed environment. Plus, the Birkeland Maternity Center will introduce Canyon County’s first and only neonatal intensive care unit, for those newborns that need extra care.

The new Heart Center offers the highest caliber of care in cardiac services, including treatment of heart attack, surgical catheterization lab, and overnight recovery suites. Heart specialists will be available to provide individualized care to patients with a broad spectrum of heart related issues.

“The Birkeland Maternity Center and Heart Center is a testament to the commitment we have to keep Canyon County healthy,” said Karl Keeler, CEO of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa. “We’re excited to see this facility come to life, and bring such essential healthcare resources a little closer to home for everyone in our community.”

Mayor Tom Dale of Nampa reiterated the sentiment, noting that “The people of Canyon County deserve the highest quality care close to home. I’ve seen this area develop in such meaningful ways over the years, and this addition makes me proud to have been able to represent Nampa’s thriving community during this time. The Birkeland Maternity Center and Heart Center additions are a great resource for Canyon County residents to reach their best health.”

The Birkeland Maternity Center and Heart Center will begin serving patients January 5th, 2014 and are currently accepting new patients and appointments by calling 367-DOCS. A community open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the general public is also planned for Saturday, January 4th at 4402 E. Flamingo Ave. in Nampa, located at the Saint Alphonsus Medical Center campus near I-84 and Garrity. The community open house runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the ribbon cutting ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m. Tours, free health screenings, kid’s activities, door prizes, refreshments, and media interviews will be available during the ceremony.
