Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise

Recognized as an Accredited Chest Pain Center

Boise, ID – Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center has been awarded their second consecutive Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, an international not-for-profit organization that focuses on transforming cardiovascular care through improving quality, reducing cost, and enhancing patient satisfaction.

To receive the accreditation, Saint Alphonsus engaged in rigorous evaluation for its ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center scored high marks in processes that reduce the time from symptoms to treatment, quick treatment time during critical phases of preserving heart muscle and monitoring patients to ensure that they are not sent home too quickly or needlessly admitted to the hospital. Collaboration between emergency medical services, emergency department staff, and the cardiology team is paramount to receiving the accreditation, which has been granted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center since 2011.

“We see a lot of people that wait too long to seek treatment, which can be a fatal mistake,” states Dr. Mark Parent, Saint Alphonsus Cardiologist. “The average patient arrives in the emergency department more than two hours after the onset of symptoms. Patients need to know that the sooner a heart attack is treated, the less damage they will have to their heart, and that translates to a better outcome. We are honored to be recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for this achievement.”

Saint Alphonsus has enhanced the quality of care for the cardiac patient and has demonstrated its commitment to higher standards, offering heart patients state-of-the-art technology, physicians, and other resources.
