Capitol Classic Children's RaceWhat: The Saint Alphonsus Capitol Classic Children’s Race is a summer rite of passage in the Treasure Valley. The Saturday June 4th event is expected to draw more than 2000 youngsters. The one mile race begins at the historic Boise Train Depot and ends at the State Capitol. Children who participate receive an Olympic-style medal, T-shirt and complimentary refreshments.

Why: In 1983, Ron and Betsy Twilegar started the annual race as a way to encourage young people to become interested in physical fitness, especially running. Through the efforts of Dr. Michael and Kirsten Coughlin, Saint Alphonsus began supporting the race in 1987. Proceeds from the Capital Children’s Classic benefit the CARE Maternal/Child Clinic at Saint Alphonsus.

When: Saturday, June 4, 2011


Race time: 11:00 AM - Racers should be at the Depot by 10:15 AM). Register online at www.saintalphonsus.org


Registration: $15 by Friday May 27th then the cost is $20

Where: Race begins at the historic Boise Depot and proceeds down Capitol Blvd. to Capitol Park in front of the Idaho State Capitol.
