We provide comprehensive care to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate injuries.

The Saint Alphonsus Idaho Sports Medicine Institute provides a comprehensive team for the valley’s athletes as the premier Idaho sports medicine institute.

There are many facets to keeping an athlete healthy. Quality coaching, nutrition, sleep, and good equipment are important. However, Saint Alphonsus Sports Medicine. strives to provide the additional care required to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate injuries.

Interaction with our medical team often begins with our on-site athletic trainers. We have them at high schools as well as at Little League organizations such as Optimus football, Rush Soccer, and regional tournaments. We provide immediate evaluation for injuries as well as other services like taping, splinting, and providing home education/rehab rate in the school's training facility. From there, we have multiple primary care and sports medicine physicians as well as convenient clinic locations around the valley. These include Sports Medicine physicians Dr. Aaron Campbell at Bown Crossing and Dr. Travis Clyde at Lake Hazel. Additionally, we have a physiatrist who works closely with our athletes at both the Boise and Nampa Locations.

These providers have specialized training and sports medicine fellowships to treat the area's athletes with the most up-to-date methods. This includes an ultrasound and guided injections of platelet rich plasma to stimulate quick healing when appropriate.

Often, young athletes can recover fully with the right physical therapy regimen. This includes teaching them the skills and fundamentals that will allow them to heal and prevent future injury. To do this, we partner with Stars Physical Therapy who have multiple clinics around the valley. As physicians, we are in frequent communication with the physical therapist help ensure the athlete is progressing as quickly and safely as possible.

Additionally, we have therapists and athletic trainers who are certified in teaching Sportsmetrics. Sportsmetrics is an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury prevention program that helps to correct the mechanics that lead to a higher risk of ACL injuries. It provides lasting effects that prevent ACL tears.

If preventative training and treatments or conservative measures have not prevented a major injury, I meet with the athlete. I am an orthopedic surgeon specially trained in the surgical treatment of sports injuries. I have been in the valley since 2015. I take pride in seeing athletes return to the activities they enjoy. Our goal is to heal them from their injury and educate them to prevent future injury. The nature of my practice allows me to see these youths rise to overcome the challenges of these setbacks, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I too have felt the devastation of having the season cut short due to injury. I, along with my colleagues, strive to provide the best restorative, regenerative, and preventative modern medical treatment. I do not want see these athletes in my clinic again. Rather I want to see their names in the newspaper and video highlights.
