Labor and Delivery
Labor and the birth of your baby take place in your own private birthing suite. Each suite has a jetted private bath and a birthing bed to allow you options for the most comfortable labor and birthing positions.
You decide who will be involved in the birth and to what extent. Select family members can remain comfortably with you or in the separate family waiting area right outside the maternity center.
You choose the type of pain management techniques you would like to use. Saint Alphonsus offers a variety of choices, so you can be sure there is the right choice for you, from a completely natural childbirth to the use of an epidural. Saint Alphonsus also offers childbirth classes, including Lamaze, to help you learn how to use natural pain management techniques if you choose.
Post Partum Care After Delivery
Shortly after delivery, you and your baby will be moved to your own private and spacious family suite to recover and get to know each other. Specially trained nurses care for both you and your baby 24/7. Your baby stays in your room with you as much as you desire, and feeding happens naturally when the baby is hungry.
Lactation consultants are IBCLC Certified and provide personal, one-on-one lactation consultations in your private room after delivery. Our consultants are trained in techniques that increase breastfeeding success and will work with you to solve any problems you may encounter.
You and your support partner will also enjoy a catered in-room celebration meal. Each room features cable TV, a DVD player, high-speed Internet access. Your support person can stay overnight on the sleeper sofa in your room and a glider is available in all post partum suites - the perfect place to feed or rock your new baby to sleep.
