Dr. Wesley Pidcock, DO and Dr. Olawale Olaniyi, MD have been named to leadership positions by Dr. Mark Nassir, MD, President of the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group.

Dr. Olaniyi, an Internal Medicine physician, has been named Hospitalist Medical Director. In that role, he will work to ensure the Hospitalist Program meets all applicable accreditation, certification, compliance, and regulatory standards. Hospitalist Medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. Dr. Olaniyi will also collaborate with the Family Practice Residency of Idaho and other hospital-based physician service groups as well as help with the continued recruitment and retention of Hospitalists for Saint Alphonsus.

Previously, Dr. Olaniyi served as President of the Medical Staff at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Nampa, and he has held various leadership positions across the health system. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto and received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and joined Saint Alphonsus in 2014.

Dr. Wesley Pidcock assumes the role of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Medical Director. He joined Saint Alphonsus in August 2020 as a Critical Care, Pulmonary Disease and Internal Medicine Specialist. He will be responsible for medical and clinical leadership of the ICU at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

A graduate of Idaho State University with a bachelor’s degree in zoology, Dr. Pidcock received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University. He did an Internal Medicine residency at the Spokane Teaching Health Center (affiliated with the University of Washington Medical School), and his Fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care at the University of California, Davis. He has practiced at hospitals in California before moving to Boise.

Dr. Nassir noted the contributions made to Saint Alphonsus by outgoing ICU Medical Director Dr. Meghan McInerney and Hospitalist Medical Director Dr. Carolyn McFarlane, especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said both were vital contributors to Saint Alphonsus’ Incident Command team, helping develop best practices and processes to treat COVID-19 patients and ensure colleague safety and resilience. They also helped educate the public about the disease, frequently conducting media interviews. Both Drs. McInerney and McFarlane are still practicing as valuable members of the Saint Alphonsus team.
