2013 Saint Alphonsus Distinguished Citizen Award
Bishop Michael Driscoll, Idaho Emergency Physicians, Gem State Radiology
honored for community support and advocacy
Boise, Idaho – May 21, 2013 – The Saint Alphonsus Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2013 Saint Alphonsus Distinguished Citizen Award.
Bishop Michael Driscoll of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Idaho along with Idaho Emergency Physicians (IEP) and Gem State Radiology will be honored with a dinner at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Wednesday May 22, 2013.
The special annual award goes to an individual who demonstrates leadership, vision, creativity and philanthropy, as well as someone who serves as a role model for generations of future leaders. The organizational award honors a business, group foundation or corporation that promotes philanthropy, volunteerism and community support.
Most Reverend Michael P. Driscoll, M.S.W., D. D., Roman Catholic Diocese of Idaho was ordained a priest in 1965 in California, and Pope John Paul II appointed him the seventh bishop of Boise in the St. John Cathedral in 1999. Since then, Bishop Driscoll has been a strong advocate for healthcare for poor and vulnerable populations, and has supported the Sisters of the Holy Cross in the ministry of providing for the spiritual needs of patients.
Idaho Emergency Physicians (IEP) is a physician-owned company established in 1974 that provides quality, patient-centered emergency medical care to Saint Alphonsus Emergency Departments throughout southwest Idaho. IEP's 41 physicians also provide medical direction for EMS entities and other healthcare organizations.
Gem State Radiology has been serving patients in the Treasure Valley for over 40 years. In 1999 Gem State Radiology established Intermountain Medical Imaging (IMI) to provide quality diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services to patients at Saint Alphonsus. Gem State Radiology consists of 27 radiologists who are board-certified, and many have acquired further specialty fellowship training in their particular area of expertise.
