New facility scheduled to open this Summer
Renee Hinson has been named CEO of the new state of the art, 40-bed freestanding rehabilitation hospital; a partnership between Saint Alphonsus Health System and Encompass Health. In her position as CEO, Hinson will oversee deployment of the strategic direction and all of the day-to-day operations of the new hospital.
The new inpatient rehabilitation hospital is currently under construction and is located adjacent to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center – Boise, at the corner of Curtis Road and Emerald Street. It is slated to open this summer. To ensure a people-centric focus for the rehabilitation of patients who need these services, the hospital will offer 40-private patient rooms, a dining area and a courtyard for outdoor living activities. Plans also include raised garden beds, a putting green and a gazebo. A 5,000 square foot area called "Function Junction" which was funded by a Festival of Trees fund raising event in 2015, will be moved from its current space in the current rehabilitation unit. It provides realistic daily living training areas designed to simulate a home that include a bedroom, living room, garage, kitchen with adaptive cabinets and sink, bathroom, office and game room. In the hospital, state-of-the art specialized robotics for ambulation, balance training and upper extremity play a vital role in achieving independence. Uniquely equipped rooms will be available for patients in need of highly specialized care such as dialysis, spinal cord and brain injury.
“We are excited to have a proven leader like Renee serving as CEO for this hospital,” said Jerry Gray, President of Encompass Health’s west region. “She has a rich history as an occupational therapist, rehabilitation leader and for the last 3 years has been the Administrative Director of the 30-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit currently located inside Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Due to her years of leadership experience in rehabilitation services, there wasn’t a better choice for the job. She will be a driving force in ensuring the highest quality of care for the community we serve.”
“Renee’s leadership at Saint Alphonsus and Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida absolutely make her the right person to lead this joint venture partnership,” said Odette Bolano, President and CEO of Saint Alphonsus Health System. “She is an innovative leader who deeply believes in our mission, and I’m confident Renee will continue to advance the high quality rehabilitative services that we have provided to our community.”
Hinson has 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist and leader in the healthcare field. She has been a member of the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center team since 2016, first as the interim consultative director of inpatient rehabilitation and then as the hospital’s administrative director. Hinson has served in many leadership roles, starting as a senior occupational therapist then moving into the director of inpatient rehabilitation services position at Holy Cross Hospital.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from the University of Richmond, later obtained her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Healthcare. She is certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt and also holds a National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy.
