Neuromuscular Ultrasound

Neuromuscular ultrasound is a technique that uses soundwaves to identify certain nerves and muscles in the body. When nerves and muscles become injured or diseased, they change shape, size, and color – which can be seen using ultrasound. When used in combination with other electrodiagnostic testing, such as nerve conduction studies or electromyography (EMG), neuromuscular ultrasound is able to more accurately identify and diagnose nerve and muscle diseases.
