Faith Community Nurse Health Ministry
The Faith Community Nurse Ministry (formerly known as the Parish Nurse Health Ministry) began at Saint Alphonsus in 1989. It is a partnership between Saint Alphonsus and faith communities (churches, synagogues, etc), of any faith tradition, to help meet the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of faith community members.
Saint Alphonsus also is a designated provider and host of the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course, the education required for competency in Faith Community Nursing practice. This course is made available on an annual basis and is for nurses who are interested in wholistic nursing care. This Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum Course is based on the curriculum developed through the Westburg Institute, whose curriculum is owned by the Church Health Center of Memphis, Inc., 1210 Peabody Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104.

Pet Therapy Program
Pet Therapy at Saint Alphonsus includes dogs and miniature horses! These sweet natured, well-mannered animals have been trained to provide comfort to a variety of individuals in many different medical and institutional settings.
Pet therapy is aninteraction between a person and a trained animal. The purpose of pet therapy is to help someone recover from or cope with a health problem. Pet therapy is not the only therapeutic option in most cases, but it can be a good choice for some people.
