Know your farmer, enjoy your veggies, and see the impact your dollars make in our community

Are you looking for a way to regularly access healthy produce grown right here in the Treasure Valley? Participating in a weekly CSA (Community Sponsored Agriculture) program might be just the thing for you. A CSA is a seasonal subscription that delivers weekly shares of some of the healthiest and tastiest local produce grown by small-scale farmers right to your place of work. Having access to a CSA is as close to farm to table as it gets!

Why choose to support a CSA?

Besides access to some of the greatest local produce, participating in a CSA also means supporting our local agriculture, farmers, and community. Our CSA strives to create a stronger connection between farmers and the communities they feed. Becoming a part of our CSA allows you to interact with the farmer growing your food and develop a deeper understanding of small-scale farming and our local food system. Know your farmer, enjoy your veggies, and see the impact your dollars make right here in our community.

Support Small-Scale Farmers

Global Gardens is a program of the Idaho Office for Refugees and Jannus, Inc that began as a community garden program in 2004 after garden pioneer Patty Haller heard about the success of refugee community gardens in other cities. We welcome farmers and gardeners to engage in work that brings them joy, provides nutritious food for their families and community, and earns a fair wage within our local food economy. We help farmers access land, training, and markets, and provide more than 100 community garden spaces.

Many refugees come to Boise with agricultural experience in their home countries, having worked as farmers of subsistence or commercial crops, or having cultivated traditional kitchen gardens near their homes or in refugee camps. Participation in community gardens and agricultural training programs is a natural fit for them in Idaho. Refugees face numerous cultural, linguistic, and economic barriers while entering the market as farm entrepreneurs; Global Gardens is focused on breaking down these barriers and supporting refugees as full participants in the local food economy.

Paying for your share upfront allows these farmers to purchase seeds, supplies, and other necessities for the upcoming season before any income can be generated. In exchange for this commitment, your "share" cost reflects a portion of the to-be-grown vegetables over the following summer. This model allows farmers to confidently invest in their businesses and provides financial security throughout the season.

How Does It Work?

First, Size.

We offer a Half share and a Full share option. A Half share contains 4-6 vegetable varieties each week, while a Full share will get you 8-10 selections. Both options get picked up weekly and run for the full 18 weeks of the season.

Then, Payment.

You have the option to pay for your share either in full at time of purchase, or in recurring payments throughout the season. Recurring payments will be charged in four equal installments: the first on the day you sign up and the following on the same day of the next three months.

Lastly, Location.

Pick up right here on campus at Saint Alphonsus Boise SARMC.
