Institutional Review Board
The Saint Alphonsus Regional Institutional Review Board has been deactivated as we restructure and regionalize into the Trinity Health West Region Human Research Protection Program. In an effort to support the conduct of research during this temporary absence of an IRB within the Saint Alphonsus Health System, we have signed am IRB Reliance Agreement with Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital Institutional Review Board #1. If you are not utilizing a central or single IRB for oversight of your research activities, please defer to the THAA IRB #1 submission process and related documents. When submitting your proposal to an IRB, regardless of which one, please copy the Saint Alphonsus Research Administrator at stacy.smith@saintalphonsus.org. All research activities must be vetted by the Saint Alphonsus Research Institute prior to IRB submission.
When submitting to the IRB, please consider the applicable fee schedules. Each Central IRB has its own fee schedule with costs related to the complexity of the submission. THAA’s fee schedule is posted below.
When using a Central IRB, please use the forms and follow the procedure provided by each organization.

When submitting an application for consideration of a research proposal, all individuals involved with the conduct of the proposed research must complete the training requirements described in the following link before submission to the IRB: Research Education | Oakland IRB | Trinity Health Michigan
In addition to complete forms and proof of CITI training, the THAA IRB also requires an annual COI disclosure and signed copy of a current curriculum vitae from the Principal Investigator.
