De. Nelson was working with a young medical student who did the initial interview and then they went over everything together during my visit. It gave me a chance to make sure they heard my concerns...and they had.

New to Boise and St. Als. Dr. Nelson and his team provide exceptional , personal, and well-coordinated care. Carolyn, the receptionist, provided a warm and friendly welcoming to the practice. She offered to make a copy of my health assessment (very customer-focused) so I wouldn't have to recall/redo this information should I need to complete one in the future. Impressive. Was taken to an exam room promptly. MA (forgot her name, sorry) was friendly, unrushed, and understood AHA Target BP guidelines. Impressive and appreciated. Dr. Nelson spent the first few minutes of the appointment just getting to know me, a rare experience in healthcare these days. His exam was thorough, he was reassuring (my PVCs were WNL, QTc was normal when adjusted for HR), and he answered my questions thoroughly. He explained he was ordering an ECHO just to cover all bases (appreciated the thoroughness AND the explanation), and called me personally to convey the results of my ECHO (normal). I expected to be called by the practice's nurse. Amazing. After he introduced himself on the phone, the first question he asked was, "How's your mother?" (He remembered our discussion that she ([age] and healthy) is moving to Boise this spring). Then followed with, "Good news, your test is normal". Such a simple cadence and order of conversation; it is so appreciated when a patient is awaiting a test result. Patiently answered a couple more questions r/t statins, AHA CV calculator and research surrounding guidelines, and need for a return appointment. Lastly, Pat, who made my appointment and provided suggestions on how to decrease wait time for ECHO (initially 8 wks) by getting on a waitlist and calling to check on cancellations, was outstanding, as was the tech (sorry, forgot her name; Stacey?) who completed my ECHO (and also spoke very highly of Dr. Nelson...love when colleagues 'manage up' so genuinely; so reassuring to patients). Dr. Nelson and his team are an asset to St. Al's, Trinity Health, and the St. Al's Medical Group.
First visit after moving here - *Dr. Nelson had read my medical history and understood my condition. He was a great listener and made me feel comfortable, knowledgeable & kind.
