Karissa Keenan, MD

I was born and raised in a very rural town in northeast Montana. And I treat all my patients with that friendly, hard-working small town mentality. I completed medical school at the University of Washington and was lucky enough to complete a number of clinical rotations in Boise. My husband is a Boise native and I instantly fell in love with the people and community. After completing my residency training at the University of Utah, I was eager to return to this extraordinary community. In our free time, we enjoy BSU football and basketball games, running, golfing, camping and simply enjoying the outdoors with our daughter and two dogs!

Philosophy of Care

I am humbled to have the opportunity to provide care to women at all stages of life. With so much information available with a click of a button, I strive to be an approachable source of medical information centered around quality and evidence, while taking the opportunity to continuously learn from my patients. I consistently seek to optimize my patient's health by treating the whole person and providing an open environment for shared decision-making and thoughtful conversations. My goal with each patient is to build a relationship rooted in trust and honesty. As a new mother, I hope to bring relatable new perspective to my obstetric practice to navigate the challenges and joys of pregnancy and motherhood with my patients. The relationship between a woman and her OB/GYN is so unique and the most fulfilling part of my job. I hope to help women feel empowered and to be their advocate throughout the seasons of life. I provide the full spectrum of OB/GYN care including; gynecologic problems such as abnormal bleeding or painful menstrual cycles, menopausal transition / hormone therapy, prolapse adolescent care and infertility. I cater to both low and high-risk pregnancies and love creating a personalized care plan with my patients. Additionally, I perform a wide range of surgical procedures including prolapse surgery, hysterectomy and cesarean sections.
