Philosophy of Care

In my practice, I take a patient-centered approach to not only treat a disease but also treat the entire person. As a colon and rectal surgeon, it is my responsibility to educate my patients, so they are able to make an informed decision in line with their own goals and values. Through this process of shared decision-making based on honest and open communication, I hope to build a trusting, long-term relationship with my patients in which excellent care is delivered.

I was impressed with thoroughness of (Beth?) the medical student who interviewed me prior to seeing the doctor. Wasn't expecting to see the doctor because I was scheduled with the PA, so it was a pleasant surprise to meet Dr. Dantani.

Dr. Dinallo is a great surgeon who seems to genuinely care about his patients and strives to do the best he can in a surgery with the least amount of scaring. It seems he is willing to spend hours more in surgery in order to keep his patients recovery time and scaring to a minimum.

I am used to being able to drape/dress I am used to being able to drape/dress for my exams. This doctor has you drop your drawers with everyone in the room while they hold a paper drape by you, leaving pants and underwear around your ankles. This procedure makes me feel quite uncomfortable.

While I have been to this office before, this was my first time with this particular provider. He made a good impression, though his assessment of my condition was somewhat different from the provider I had previously seen, which left me a bit confused. I came in thinking I was ready to undergo a surgical procedure but he advised me there are still some non-surgical measures we can attempt before going that route. While this was good news, the inconsistency between the two providers over the same matter left me a little disconcerted.

He listened carefully, paid attention, understood my concerns; answered and explained with details & graphics about my illness. He made the right diagnosis. He is really COMPETENT! I already felt better when I left his office!

Communication between dr. & staff after this visit prior to surgery was absent. It was not reconnected until I personally contacted them about pre surgery preparation. (Too many links in the chain in hospital system?)
