Common symptoms of IBD include:
- Abdominal (belly) pain
- Blood in your stool
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
When to See a Doctor
IBD is a serious disease that can lead to life-threatening complications. If you’re experiencing a persistent change in your bowel habits or are having any of the symptoms of IBD, it may be time to see a doctor.
At Saint Alphonsus, we know symptoms of IBD can be life-disruptive. While medication may work for some people, surgery may be required to address severe symptoms. Our colorectal experts specialize in minimally invasive robotic surgery for complex surgical procedures. This surgical approach enables our surgeons to operate with enhanced vision and precision – all performed through a few small incisions. For the patient, this means less complications, a shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery.
If you’re experiencing symptoms or have been diagnosed with IBD, talk to your primary care provider about referring you to a Gastroenterologist to discuss treatment options. If you do not have a primary care provider, complete our form to request an appointment and a Saint Alphonsus representative will get you scheduled with a provider that’s right for you.
