Boise, ID - U.S. News & World Report today released its annual Best Hospitals rankings. Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise was once again ranked the #1 Best Hospital in the Boise metropolitan area. The report included analysis of 12 hospitals in the Treasure Valley.

In addition to the #1 hospital ranking, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center received high-performing marks in eight specialties: Cancer, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology.

“We are so pleased to have U.S. News & World Report once again validate the superior quality healthcare all our patients have come to count on and appreciate,” said Sally Jeffcoat, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center’s President and CEO. “We are very proud of the dedication and commitment of all Saint Alphonsus Associates and medical staff providers in making this distinction possible two years in a row.”

This year’s Best Hospitals, the 23rd annual edition, showcases more than 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals. Fewer than 150 are nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties. In addition, U.S. News covered 94 metro areas in the U.S. to provide regional hospital rankings to complement the national rankings. These regional rankings include hospitals with solid performance at the level of nationally ranked institutions.

“The hospital rankings are like a GPS-type aid to help steer patients to hospitals with strong skills in the procedures and medical conditions that present the biggest challenges,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “All of these hospitals are the kinds of medical centers that should be on your list when you need the best care. They are where other hospitals send the toughest cases.”
