Dr. Steven Nemerson Named Saint Alphonsus Health System Chief Clinical Officer

Dr. Steven Nemerson, MD, MSE, MBA has joined Saint Alphonsus Health System as Chief Clinical Officer. Dr. Nemerson began in his position on January 27.
In his new role, Dr. Nemerson will be responsible for executive leadership and strategic oversight for the clinical enterprise of Saint Alphonsus Health System. He will serve as the executive champion for enhancing quality of care, integrated healthcare delivery, and patient safety with a focus on exceeding patient expectations for the overall care experience. This role also includes oversight of the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group and the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance Clinically Integrated Network.
Dr. Nemerson previously served as Vice President and Chief, Post-Acute Health, for Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this leadership role, he and his team had responsibility for a $300M enterprise, including over 600 sub-acute rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation and long-term acute care beds, 28 outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation locations, and a multitude of inpatient and outpatient provider services including home-based care, geriatric specialty care, palliative care, and hospice.
As a senior healthcare leader for more than 15 years, Dr. Nemerson has served as the Chief Medical Officer for Aurora Healthcare in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois; Vanguard West Suburban and Westlake Medical Centers in greater Chicago; and Lower Bucks Hospital in suburban Philadelphia. Dr. Nemerson began his leadership career at Shriners Hospital for Children and the Temple University Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also served as Medical Director of Pediatric Critical Care. He is board-certified as a pediatric intensive care physician and one of only 21 diplomates in the world board-certified in administrative medicine.

Dr. Nemerson holds a medical degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Business Administration from Temple University and a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University and has a history of contributions to clinical research and education. Dr. Nemerson is board-certified in Administrative Medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties; Pediatric Critical Care and General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
