The Distinguished Individual Citizen Award honors individuals for their leadership, vision, creativity and philanthropy. Thanks to their gifts of time and support, Saint Alphonsus is able to improve the health of our communities. These honorees serve as role models for generations of leaders who follow them and support the ongoing mission of Saint Alphonsus.

Individual – Dr. Angie & James Harrison

Dr. Angela and James Harrison and their six children have lived all over the world. We are so grateful that since 2000 they have called Boise their home, where they generously give and give of themselves to causes they care about. Their Foundation, Angels Among Us, partners with non-profit organizations with emphasis on missions that serve people who are poor and vulnerable. They helped start Boise’s first Catholic radio station, Salt & Light Catholic radio. They also created St. Teresa Medical Clinic in a remote village in Haiti where Angie, Family Nurse Practitioner and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, is the medical director. Additionally, the Harrisons support Bishop Kelly High School Foundation, Hope House in Marsing, Idaho Youth Ranch, FOCUS, Catholic Charities of Idaho, Project Haiti and the Saint Alphonsus Foundation.

If you would like to make a gift to honor Dr. Angela & James Harrison, they have identified our Project Haiti fund as their favorite.

The Distinguished Organizational Citizen Award honors corporations, foundations, small businesses or groups who have a proven philanthropic record spanning several years; give financial support, including gifts-inkind; promote and encourage a philanthropic attitude and volunteerism amongst their employees; and encourage the community to become involved with not-for-profit groups.

Organization – CenterCal Properties/The Village At Meridian

Fred Bruning and Jean Paul Wardy founded CenterCal Properties in 2004. Since then they have envisioned and built some of the most stunning, community-focused developments in the Western United States, including The Village at Meridian. Serving the community is a hallmark of CenterCal Properties, as evidenced by their support during the Pandemic. The Village at Meridian was home to Saint Alphonsus’s virtual Festival of Trees and then provided space for community vaccinations against Covid-19. With CenterCal’s help in providing a convenient, high- profile location, Saint Alphonsus was able to serve the needs of our community. Join us as we salute this fine organization that brings together quality restaurants, retailers, and business destinations and who responded to the call for help when our community needed it most.

If you would like to make a gift to honor CenterCal Properties/The Village at Meridian, they have identified the Women’s Healthcare Fund as their favorite. Select “Women’s Healthcare Fund” as the designation.

The Distinguished Doctor Award honors those who have led a lifetime helping and healing others through medicine, philanthropy and service. They are role models for other leaders in healthcare and inspire active demonstration of compassion.

Doctor – Mark Meier, MD

After medical residency and a fellowship program that gave him a unique combination of training in emergency and orthopedic specialties, Dr. Mark Meier came to Boise in 1992, joining Orthopedic Associates. Since then, Dr. Meier has worked at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and has served and in numerous functions and professional organizations: twice as Department Chair of Orthopedics, for eight years on the SARMC Board of Trustees; and led as President of the Idaho Orthopedic Society and North Pacific Orthopedic Society. Before retirement, Dr. Meier helped establish the Saint Alphonsus Joint Preservation and Reconstruction Clinic. Over the years, he has been respected by patients and peers, and supported Foundation activities, including the Nampa Golf Tournament, Capitol Classic Race for Children, Project Haiti, and Festival of Trees.
