About Provider Ratings
Saint Alphonsus is committed to providing you with helpful information so you can make important decisions about your healthcare. One way we do this is by publishing ratings and reviews for Saint Alphonsus providers, because reading and understanding other patients' experiences may help you feel more confident in choosing a provider that's right for you. Please note, we recognize patients may confuse Advanced Practice Providers (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) with Physicians. Due to the high volume of comments received, we are not able to correct each of these references.
How are ratings and comments obtained?
The ratings and comments you see on our provider profiles are gathered from Saint Alphonsus patient surveys, which are conducted by an independent quality assurance and customer satisfaction organization called Press Ganey Associates. Press Ganey Associates is a trusted research company used by hospitals and government agencies across the U.S. for more than 30 years, so you can be sure the information we provide is accurate and unbiased.
Who receives the survey?
Press Ganey Associates sends the survey to verified Saint Alphonsus patients within a few days of their visit to the provider's office. The survey asks patients questions about specific aspects of their care, including things like scheduling and wait time, as well as their interactions with the provider and staff. We use this feedback to improve our office operations and how we deliver care. Our goal is to deliver exceptional care and a great experience to each and every patient.
Only patients seen by a Saint Alphonsus physician or advanced practice provider receive this survey. That means the ratings and comments you see are based entirely on the experiences of patients who have actually been treated by the Saint Alphonsus provider.
How are the ratings calculated?
The star rating score is an average of responses related to the provider's care on the Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating, with 5 stars being the highest rating. These questions include:
- Did this provider explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
- Did this provider Listen carefully to you?
- Did this provider give you easy to understand information about health questions or concerns?
- Did this provider seem to know the important information about your medical history?
- Did this provider show respect for what you had to say?
- Did this provider spend enough time with you?
Why aren't there patient ratings and comments for every provider?
In order to provide you the most accurate and useful information about our providers, we only post ratings and comments when a provider has received a minimum of 30 survey responses. Additionally, providers who are not employed by Saint Alphonsus do not receive specific provider ratings.
Are all reviews posted?
While we are committed to being as fully transparent as possible by publishing all comments, we choose not to publish comments that are deemed to be offensive, profane, libelous, unrelated to the provider or in violation of patient privacy.
How often are ratings updated?
All ratings and comments are updated monthly.
Sometimes I see an asterisk or underline in a comment, what do these indicate?
All surveys are processed through Natural Language Processor (NLP) software when received by Press Ganey Associates. Press Ganey assigns an asterisk by a provider's name to help us recognize when our providers are mentioned. In situations where the NLP software cannot recognize the handwriting of a comment, an underline will replace that portion of the comment.
