If you're over the age of 40, “Pinky Promise” with your person this October to schedule your screening mammogram
This year, Saint Alphonsus partnered with Townsquare media to help lift Idaho up from being last in the nation for the number of women who get yearly mammograms with our “Pinky Promise” campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
We encouraged women over the age of 40 to make a “Pinky Promise” with a loved one, friend, or spouse this October to schedule their screening mammogram. Every young girl remembers the “pinky promise.” It is a commitment that had deep significance and a binding promise. For adult women, this reminds them of a period or place in their life that had sentimental and happy personal association that will hopefully encourage action to get their screening mammogram. Two pink pinky rings with our logo were given out throughout the month by Townsquare at the various events to women who get their screening mammogram on our 2 mobile units. A Pinky Promise Event at the West YMCA on 10/16 also had a great turnout of women who were excited to make the pinky promise and hopped on the bus for their annual mammogram.
Getting regular mammograms and breast exams can help women detect changes in their breasts early and allow them to receive prompt medical care. Early detection truly saves lives.
