The area has been lovingly developed to reflect the respect and sensitivity we have for families who have experienced a pregnancy loss. You are encouraged to visit it at any time. 2024 Angel Garden Remembrance Ceremony

Saint Alphonsus respects every pregnancy and infant loss, regardless of how early it occurs. Once a year Saint Alphonsus invites families to join us to honor and remember those we have lost. Joining together allows us all to reflect upon the beautiful spirit that remains in our hearts. The ceremony will begin inside the Cloverdale Chapel and end with a walk to the Angel Garden (near the corner of Cloverdale and Fairview Rd.) and a release of butterflies.

Directions: The Angel Garden backs up to Cloverdale Road. Please enter the cemetery off of Fairview Avenue. Follow the road to the right and the Angel Garden is directly in front of you as the road turns to the left.

The Saint Alphonsus Angel Garden is the final resting place for babies who are less than 20 weeks old. The graves are not individually marked, but the area has been lovingly developed to reflect respect and sensitivity for the families. Parents and families are encouraged to visit the garden at any time to reflect or pray.
Who is eligible for placement?
Any baby delivered before 20 weeks gestation with no signs of life. Delivery can occur at home, D&C, or at the hospital.
Is there a cost to the family?
No, Saint Alphonsus Mission covers the cost of placement.
Where is the Angel Garden?
The Angel Garden is located at the Cloverdale Cemetery. It is accessible as you enter the Cloverdale Cemetery main entrance on Fairview Avenue. Follow the road to the right and the Angel Garden is in front of you as the road curves to the left. It backs up to Cloverdale Road. There is a stone bench and marker to identify the area.
Is it possible for families to acknowledge their babies?
Yes, Cloverdale Funeral Home has provided a separate marker stone (next to our bench) with small individual plates that can be purchased by a family. The cost is $159. The family works with Cloverdale to purchase and specify the information on the marker: 208-375-2212 .
When is the annual ceremony at the Angel Garden?
The ceremony is held from 11:00 am -12:00 pm in May on Saturday before Memorial Weekend. All who have experienced or been touched by a loss, no matter when or how far along are welcome to attend. This is a very healing experience for staff and we greatly appreciate their involvement with planning and attending the ceremony.
