The Heart & Vascular Center is a comprehensive provider of cardiac care combining compassion with medical expertise in a technologically-advanced, state-of-the-art environment.

Critical components of the Heart & Vascular Center include:

  • Coronary care unit
  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories
  • Cardiac observation unit for short stay patients
  • Cardiac surgery
  • Cardiac surgery intensive care unit
  • Vascular and endovascular surgical services
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring unit
  • Cardiac diagnostic services of echocardiography and vascular ultrasound
  • Digital electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Diagnostic stress testing
  • Acute myocardial infarct management and congestive heart failure monitoring programs

In addition, cardiac disease prevention and heart healthy education are provided through cardiac rehabilitation and wellness programs. It is the goal of the Heart & Vascular Center to enhance life and cardiac wellness through prevention, early diagnosis, effective treatment and education.

The nursing staff has completed additional courses in cardiac care, and many hold advanced certification as critical care nurses, coronary care medical nurses or progressive care nurses.

Saint Alphonsus Heart & Vascular Center has consistently been named in the nation's 100 top cardiovascular hospitals by Solucient benchmarking programs that objectively measure performance on key criteria at the nation's top-performing hospitals. Other recognition includes the 2007 HealthGrades ranking of #1 in Idaho for Overall Cardiac Services and a Blue Cross of Idaho Blues Center of Distinction for Cardiac Care.
